Abstract

The article discusses phenomena characteristic of the 1960s Polish prose, in which the issue of everyday life is expressed through realistic narrative. The topic outlined in the title is exemplified by novels written by authors associated with the so-called little realism movement illustrating the everyday lives of young teachers beginning their professional careers. The presentation of the protagonists’ fates in the discussed prose serves to depict everyday life as a form of existence oriented toward the present moment, survival, and, in a certain sense, as a mechanism limiting individual freedom.

Key words: prose, small realism, everyday life, teacher
