Abstract
The study includes observation of the linguistic peculiarites in the text of “Life of St. Xenophont”, which is part of the manuscript of the so-called Priest Yoan’s (or Preist John’s) remake from 1830. The aims of our research are: to describe and analyze the linguistic choices of Priest Yoan in the context of the current literary and linguistic processes of the 1830s; to find out which of them are conditioned by the stylistic markings of parts of the story; to offer an answer to the question whether the studied text is a transcript or a translation based on the results of our work.
