Abstract
In the following article we direct our attention to the representation of the moral and educational role of the female figure in George Sand’s Mauprat, focusing on the character of Edmee as an agent of ethical transformation. Inspired by Rousseau’s educational philosophy, George Sand redefines moral authority through a feminine figure. The study situates this dynamic within broader reflections on women’s writing and symbolic emancipation, revealing Mauprat as a hybrid of the novel of education and humanist thought.
Key words: George Sand, Mauprat, moral transformation, women’s writing
