Abstract
The subject of this comparative study is the tourist websites of Berlin, Ingolstadt, Sofia, and Veliko Tarnovo. Based on Roman Jakobson’s (1960) six function model, German and Bulgarian lexical units are analyzed with regard to their function in the individual homepage sections. The aim is to illustrate how words and phrases are used as advertising tools in digital city marketing so that the advertised cities can stimulate travel desire in website users.
