Abstract

The hieroschemamonk Spiridon Rilski fits into the revival period’s culture not only due to his historiographical contribution but also with a high intellectual level in upholding the Bulgarian hesychast traditions, which have found their continuation in neo-hesychasm from the XVIII century – in the work of Paisii Velichkovski. Spiridon Rilski prepares a new edition of the extensive life of Prep. Teodosii Turnovski and composes a liturgy for the unfairly forgotten Bulgarian saint. With the metaphrased life of Theodosii Turnovski, Spiridon Rilski follows the high standards of the Pan-Slavic Orthodox metaphrastics, created by the writers of the Tarnovo Literary School.
