Abstract

The aim of this research is to carry out contrastive analysis between the Spanish and the Bulgarian language with respect to the formation of deonomastic nouns of place (demonyms). We will attempt to define the differences and similarities between the two languages subject to comparison and describe the Spanish and Bulgarian suffixes which form these nouns. We will direct our attention to the categorical pertinence of the demonyms, to the productivity of the different Spanish and Bulgarian suffixes and to the phonetic and morphological changes occurring in the respective derivatives.

Key words: nouns, adjectives, deonomastic, suffix, demonym
