Abstract

In the present article I attempt to characterize some trends of (au-to)biography in contemporary feminist criticism in Poland, created in accordance with Julia Kristeva’s project of ‘depoliticised’ revolution. On the one hand, I am interested in both: the diaries of Polish authors, including Maria Jasnorzewska-Pawlikowska (Wojnę szatan spłodził, [Satan fathered war]), and translations and new editions of autobiographical texts written in foreign languages by authors such as Simone de Beauvoir and Anaïs Nin. On the other hand, I look at the proposals and projects presented in books such as Prywatne/publiczne. Gatunki pisarstwa kobiecego [Private/Public. Genres of women’s writing] edited by Inga Iwasiów.

Key words: feminist literary criticism in Poland, autobiography, biography, private – public
