Abstract
The vowel system of Pripek village shows a significant contrast in comparison with the dialects of the surrounding villages in the Zlatograd region. Since the dialect of Pripek registers instability and contradiction in the replacement of the Old Bulgarian vowels, these typological characteristics of this dialect turn out to be a challenge for Bulgarian dialectical and historical phonetics.
In this paper we examine some other previous statements and present our point of view about the development processes, which led to the contemporary status.
