Abstract
The paper presents an analysis of the answers to a question in a representative sociological study of attitudes to possible changes in contemporary codified norms. The answers of respondents are analyzed in relation to three statistically significant variables: education, standard of living, ethnicity, as well as in relation to the variable age.The groups of respondents with a definite answer in direction of changing or maintaining the current literary rules are characterized by an active attitude towards the standard
language and its rules. The group with a neutral language attitude passively uses the standard and therefore feels alienated from the standard language and marginalized.
Key words: language attitudes, standard language, codification
