Abstract
The task of this text is to show how Bakardjiev’s novel reveals the manipulative appropriations that one – statesman, historian, writer – could make of history at a certain moment. Therefore, the idea which kindled our sense of national identity on the basis of the story about our origin and place in the world
turns out to be very easily dependent on, and manipulated by, supposed historical monuments, sources, historical narratives.
