Abstract
The article explores the Spanish vocabulary used in Cuba. It deals with different words inherited from the aborigines that have been incorporated in the language during the process of the formation of Тhe Cuban Nation. The article discusses the formation of secondary structures through the process of suffixation, compounding and parasynthesis, as well. Besides an analysis of lexical units that have lost their semantic charge, it also focuses on euphemisms and other phenomena of interest in the field of lexicology.
