Abstract
K. J. Erben’s ballad “The Golden Spinning Wheel” transforms the classical motif of “revealing the truth” associated with the myth of Arachne and Athena Pallas. The vocal message (song) of the spinning tool changes the fortune of the characters, restores justice, and reinstates moral values. The epic line of the ballad traces the universal archetype of making whole while lending it national relevance.
