Abstract
The subject of the article is the word formation of nomina attributiva in the Old Testament of the New Bulgarian Bible translation of 1871. The analysis is grounded in the theoretical framework established by Czech linguist Miloš Dokulil in his work Tvoření slov v češtině: Teorie odvozování slov (1962), which have been adapted into Bulgarian language material by Ivan Kochev in 1971. The identified names are systematically classified according to their word formation types across the three grammatical genders in the Bulgarian language. The conclusions from the analysis relate to the number and volume of the types and their productivity. A comparative analysis is also conducted to highlight the prominent formants of nomina attributiva in earlier stages of the Bulgarian language.
