Abstract
During the Bulgarian Revival period, a number of translated works whose source was not mentioned were published in the periodical press. This article focuses on one of these texts, printed in 1853 in Tsarigradski Vestnik under the title “Beron or God’s Providence”. After identifying the French source text (the novella “Le Véronèse” by Constant Guéroult) and the Greek intermediary text, I go on to place the discussion of the translated work in the context of descriptive-systemic translation studies.
Key words: descriptive-systemic translation studies, Bulgarian Revival period, Constant Guéroult, Pandeli Kisimov, Tsarigradski vestnik
