Abstract
The current research analyzes some papers and philological thoughts of Vassil Cholakov – a Bulgarian writer, scholar and cleric from the 19th century better known as one of the first Bulgarian ethnologists and folklorists. It exam-ines his work in the context of the history of Bulgarian dialectology during the National Revival period and his role in the introduction, presentation and inter-pretation of some phonetic, grammatical and lexical differences and features of Bulgarian dialects, presented in Cholacov’s book ‘Bulgarian folk collection’ (1872).
