Abstract

Cultural memory is the collective consciousness of the past manifested in a specific cultural space, which is passed on through various forms of communication, such as rituals, paintings, letters, holidays, but also proper names.
The paper describes the way how this process is implemented in the proper names of the urban spaces in Poland and Bulgaria.
