Abstract
The present study focuses on an analysis of the translation of the Four Gospels into the Constantinople Bible (1871) in view of the processes of consolidation and integration of linguistic means in the third quarter of the 19th century, bor-rowed from the two main sources – spoken speech and literary tradition. The con-tributions of the translation commission and above all of P. R. Slaveykov to the literary-linguistic construction are noted, which contributes to the enrichment, in-tellectualization and improvement of the New Bulgarian literary language by in-troducing intellectualizing vocabulary in a wide spectrum.
Key words: Revival, Bible, Gospel, literary language construction, New Bulgarian translation activity
