Abstract
The paper examines structures with more than one preposition that could be a prepositional phrase (PP), extension of a noun or a verb phrase. An attempt is made to find out regularities of the action of the outermost preposition and to check some hypotheses in which cases the preposition acts as a predicate. Relying on analogy with polyprefixation as a derivational process, the analysis aims to identify patterns of occurrences of ellipse and/or zero head, which leads to conversive constructions that find lexical expression in the accumulation of prepositions.
Key words: prepositional phrase, polyprepositional construction, preposition as a predicate
