Abstract
Phraseological competence is essential in second language acquisition when students aim at fluency. Furthermore, it is also a part of the culture of which students expect to have a good command. The purpose of this paper is to analyze the exams for the accreditation in Spanish as a Second Language, specifically, those issued by the Instituto Cervantes, in order to observe the typology of the texts used and to evaluate their adjustment to different levels of communicative competence.
