Abstract
The text studies and analyses the social, linguistic and pragmatic aspects of the interjection opa (“oops”). The lexical item is not included in the Bulgarian dictionaries, although we hear it almost every day, i.e. it is highly used. The thesis also shows some translation equivalents of the studied interjection, from and to languages, which have lexemes that are similar in phonetic composition and functional and semantic content. The main objective of the study is to obtain a maximally accurate lexicographic interpretation of opa, for the purpose of its inclusion in a dictionary of interjections and interjectional phrases.
