Abstract

The current paper examines the problem of transpositions with the category of gender. The author tries to prove that the neuter is by no means neutral, as far as stylistics is concerned; that the unmarked grammeme, masculine, participates in transpositions; and that the category of gender has two specific features that make it different from all the other lexico-grammatical and morphological categories in Bulgarian.

Key words: gender, transposition, neutralization
