Abstract

The paper focuses on the historical importance of „Nauka“ („Science“) Journal (1881 – 1884) and its function in the literature and language standardization processes as discussed in the perspective of the social and cultural discourse of that time and in the context of the language specificity in the post-liberation period. The journal deserves attention due to its policy – the presentation of literary works, literary criticism, and language reviews; another of its merits is its feature of linguistic discussions of relevant contemporary issues and problems of language standardization. „Nauka“ („Science“) Journal is a very important source for studies on the historical development of Contemporary Standard Bulgarian Language (language standardization processes, terminological word-formation, purity of the vocabulary) and it is definitely one of the driving forces in the Bulgarian Language Standardization processes during the 1880s .
