Abstract
This rule-based method of automatic syllabification of phoneme sequences in French effectively embodies a not very well-known phonological model regarding the syllable and its relating allophonic properties. However, based on this model, the algorithm turns out to be both particularly simple and easily extensible to other natural languages and various conflicting constraints.
