Abstract

The paper deals with quasi-questions in Bulgarian colloquial speech. These are interrogative sentences by form only (not by content), and unlike real questions, they do not seek information from the interlocutor but have other communication purposes. The factors that determine the quasi-interrogative nature of these sentenses are diverse and their usage is complex. The paper analyzes the intonation and reiteration as syntactic markers of colloquial quasi-interrogative sentenses.

Key words: quasi-interrogative sentense, quasi-interrogative marker, intonation, reiteration
