Abstract

The changed status of verbal nouns in the contemporary Slavonic languages has resulted in a risher word-formation paradigm of the verb in order to compensate for the reduction of non-finite forms in the inflectional paradigm. The absence or presence of an infinitival stem, from which verbal nouns are derived, is connected with changes in the relation between the word-formation types within the category of nomina actionis. Key words: verbal nouns; infinitival stem; word-formation type; formant
