Abstract
Nikolay Ivanovich Gretch was an extraordinary person – a public figure, publicist, editor and linguist. He developed a bifurcate approach to the theory of parts of speech, as he differentiated words from logical-semantic and morphological point of view. So we find two heterogeneous classifications in his grammar, each of which, separately, marked by its own merits.
Key words: theory of parts of speech, logical-semantic principle, morphological principle, heterogeneous classifications
