Abstract
The paper presents a person of Czech origin Slavibor Breüer, known as monk Sava Chilandarec, at the beginning of his stay in the Hilandar monastery in 1881. His diary from 1881–1884 is the main source about his life among the Bulgarians, who were the predominant nationality among the monks at Hilandar during this period. The interest in botanics and agriculture, as well asthe carpentry works of the Czech novice are discussed.
