Abstract
The article examines the relationship between possessiveness and determination in the Bulgarian language. The hypothesis that possessive pronouns are lexical modifiers functioning in the periphery of the functional-semantic field of determination is defended. Their functioning as determiners depending on various factors is studied. The term lexical-semantic definiteness is introduced, expressed not by grammatical means (definite/indefinite article), but rather by possessive pronouns as determiners.
