Abstract
The article presents similarities and differences in the use of forms of address in Bulgarian and Polish. The cultural and the historical development of the speakers of these two languages has led to essential differences, and similarities in some cases and in certain speech situations. The analysis outlines the major linguistic issues arising from the use of forms ty//pan, pani, państwo in Polish and their equivalent forms ти//Вие in Bulgarian, as well the situations in the everyday communication to which they correspond.
