Abstract
At the end of the twentieth century were got out a lot of English words in the Bulgarian lexical system. They give satisfaction to different nominative and synonymous needs. The new English words cover a wide thematic field – politics, economics, culture, etc. Some of them function as part of individual vocabulary. In Bulgarian language no common rules to adapting English words exist. The trend is transcription, but very often English words are transliterated. New English words are a productive source for making new Bulgarian words. The polysemantics of English words is not retained in Bulgarian language.

Key words: English words, Bulgarian words, foreign words, transcription, transliteration
