Abstract
The article verifies the repeated statement that academician Prof. Alexander Teodorov-Balan was the first who proposed that the name of Chamkoriya resort should be changed to Borovets. None of his books or articles before 1942 showed that he used the name of Borovets. It appeared in publications and letters of the linguist after the summer of 1942, when it was officially assigned to the resort of Chamkoriya. The real godparents of the name Borovets were a group of students from Higher School in Sofia (nowadays Sofia
University “St. Kliment Ohridski”), who in 1900 proposed that it replace the old Turkish name.
