Abstract
The present study aims to explore the possibilities of incorporating precedent phenomena in journalistic articles from a functional perspective. Using intertextuality is a common technique in print media, as it provides numerous opportunities for interpretation, expanding the context of the message. The inclusion of quotes, as well as the adaptation of the form of the original language unit, offers a broader range of possibilities for enriching the content, expanding the semantics and allowing the reader to more tangibly feel the dialogue between texts.
Key words: precedent phenomenon, microtext, megatext, functional potential, print media, implication, quasi-citation
