Abstract
Learning new and relatively complex articulation habits requires continuous practice. A positive effect is achieved when the subject has properfeedback on the outcome of his actions. This is the purpose of the TREFL program in the field of corrective phonetics. This software-provided method offers the possibility of practical modelling of vowels, taking into account frequency integrations in their mental acoustic image. In contrast to the classical two-formant vowel model, the new model gives a more realistic representationof vowels at the perceptual level.
