Abstract
Thе paper analyses the construction of the image of the historical figure Rodrigo Díaz de Vivar in Arturo Pérez-Reverte’s novel Sidi. The qualities and weaknesses of the character are examined, attention is paid to the mixture between adherence to historical information and legendary elements, and to the level of realism in the depiction of the features of the era in which the action takes place.
