Abstract

The study focuses on complex sentences whose subordinate clauses can
be interpreted as subjects.
The description of the features of these sentences shows a number of
differences as compared with other complex sentences in which the subordinate
clause takes the subject position. As a result, in addition to the two most
commonly studied types, the article proposes another variant of these sentences,
which can be formally described as Pred + Vcop S. Further, the author focuses

Key words: syntax, copulative type of predication, the verb to be, subordinate subject clauses, agreement
