Abstract
Recently, gender components of phraseological units have become an object of great interest. The author examines gender marked phraseological units in the contemporary Russian mass media. The observed tendency is to neutralize the phenomenon of language asymmetry. Traditional proverbs more broadly describe the situation in the media context and this leads to the elimination of the gender component in their structure.
