Abstract
The research focuses on the grammaticalization of the forms of the Future Tense in the Bulgarian language. The main reason for the generalisation of the particle ще (will) (from хотэти is its impossibility, in non-metaphoric use, to connect with impersonalized subjects since it expresses a conscious emotional volitional mental process, typical only of people. The use of grammatical pat-terns with иска (want to) for a non-person involves transformation or metaphoric deciphering of the meaning, hence also gradual loss of the typical lexical meaning, i.e. abstract reconsidering, in which process only the meaning of the Future Tense remains relevant.

Key words: temporality, the future tense, personality : impersonality, grammaticalization
