Abstract
The object of research in this article are the aspectual restrictions in the grammatical expression of prohibition in contemporary Bulgarian. An important goal of the analysis is not only to present the cases in which the aspectual semantics of the verbs in perfective aspect restricts the functioning of the prohibitive forms, but also to explore the causes of this manifestation of defectivity. The non-prohibitive realizations of the negative imperative formed by the perfectives have also been considered in the analysis.
Key words: prohibition, imperative, perfective aspect, aspectuality, transposition, functional restriction
