Abstract
In this paper, essays called „Bulgarian Writers and Literature. First Historian and First Writer: Paisiy“ and „Bulgarian Writers and Literature. Successors of Paisiy. The Beauty of Language to Rebirth and Improvement“, published in 1914 in the 97th and 99th issues of the magazine „Shehbal“ („Şeh’bâl“) are considered. The research is trying to examine the role of Paisii Hilendarski and his successors in the process of awakening of Bulgarian national consciousness and Bulgarian language and literature as well as the influence of their images on the Turkish readers.
