Abstract
Three different approaches to the motif of loneliness are presented by Bulgarian authors for children and young adults. Vesela Flamburari depicts the effect of an evil spell that happened when the heroine found herself completely alone and defenseless in the fairy tale Mayska nosht s feyata-kandilka (2012, 2023). Antonyo Stefanov describes the loneliness of a sensitive boy among his family, which ultimately leads to the tragic end of the story Momcheto shtarkel (2023). Lilia Stareva’s latest book Morski prikazki za dve zemni deca, priyatelya im delfin i morskite hora (2024) is a collection of eleven fairy tales about different sea empires inhabited by solitary individuals.
