Abstract

In this paper we will seek for the presence of motives and different literature treatment in Ivo Andric’s work, which we can interconnect with philosophy of existentialism and its most significant representatives (Heidegger, Kierkegaard, Sartre). We will deal with the concept of life and living, thematization of encountering death, and it’s semantics in the light of different approaches to the existentialism philosophy. Our aim is to prove that, though there is no evidence that Andric knew and read existentialism philosophers, there are many connections between his work and existentialism.

Key words: existentialism, philosophy of existentialism, existence, nihilism, freedom, absurd, alienation
