Abstract
Adverbial forms have been an integral part of the typology of speech since ancient linguistic writings, usually remaining outside of the heightened linguistic interest. The traditional finding is that they are often derivatives of other nouns, but practice shows that not only noun groups are at the root of adverbial lexemes, since their formation is based on other parts of speech, other than nominal ones. The main goal is to make a general overview of the linguistic works offering a more detailed analysis of the genesis of adverbial forms, and to revise some of the opinions that include in the class of lexemes expressions with circumstantial meaning, derived from different parts of speech.
Key words: adverbials, parts of speech, genesis
