Abstract
The present study is based on more than 200 examples (single words and expressions) from 10 documents (contracts) written between 1868 – 1870 in Na-tional-Revival period Varna. The results show that the author of the texts, the scriber Konstantin Tyulev, doesn’t follow (or follows very loosely) the model ap-plied by the Plovdiv Literary Language School in distinguishing direct from indi-rect cases in names (nouns, adjectives, numerals) and in pronouns in the feminine singular. Although he writes the endings -а/-я or -ѫ/-ѭ, and the article morpheme is either -та or -тѫ, their use often does not reflect the syntactic role of the exam-ples but features, rather, of the living speech.
Key words: Bulgarian National Revival period, modern Bulgarian lan-guage, Varna, Plovdiv Literary Language School, declension, case endings
