Abstract
Against the backdrop of other textbook works published in the 1820s-1840s it seems that “Balgarski Bukvar” by Georgi Busilin does not prioritize natural science knowledge. Emphasis is put on the child’s first steps in the classroom of life. At the same time, Busilin’s Bukvar cannot ignore the topic of Natural Sci-ence, which was relevant in the 19th century, since the very transition to rational thinking in the era of the Bulgarian Revival is rooted in the turn to natural sciences and objective scientific knowledge. In the book knowledge from the field of nat-ural sciences is present, to the extent which it can be a part of the direct sensory experience of the young reader.
Key words: Georgi Busilin, Natural Sciences, Education, Bulgarian Revival
