Abstract

The paper attempts to highlight the relevance of the anti-topian model of the world created by Yevgeny Zamyatin in his novel We. The novel depicts a future world awaiting humanity. Zamyatin’s work is significant not only for its „prophetic“ nature but also as a „warning“. It warns that a totalitarian state destroys individual identity and reduces a person to a „cog“ in a huge machine. Moreover, modern anti-utopian literature warns its readers to the ongoing threat of totalitarian regimes, which has not yet disappeared.
