Abstract

In this paper we aim to trace how the motif of the city is present and transformed in Czech literature of the end of the nineteenth century through to the beginning of the twentieth century. We shall look into specific Czech prose-fiction texts translated into Bulgarian: King Kofetua (1893) by Julius Zayer, The Beautiful Nemesis (1903-1906) by Ladislav Klima, The Fortress of Death (1912) by Jakub Dеmel and The Witcher City (1919) by Richard Weiner.
